Referrals

Under the national ‘e-Referral' system, if you and your GP decide that you need to see a specialist, you can now choose where to have your treatment from a list of up to five hospitals.  You can also book your own outpatient appointment for a time that is convenient to you.

Most of this will be done through the local Booking Management Service and you will be given plenty of information when the need arises.

Have you recently been referred to see a specialist by your GP? The leaflet below provides guidance on what to expect when you are referred by your GP to see a Specialist (doctor, nurse or therapist). Please read this information carefully — it may save you an unnecessary trip or phone call to the surgery.
